What to Do if You See a Black Screen During Your Digital Health Check

A guide to troubleshooting camera issues with the Strove app

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you're seeing a black screen when using the digital health check scanner, it's likely a known issue caused by a previous web page of the scanner still being open in your browser's history. You should also check that your camera access is enabled for your browser.

Camera Permissions

For the digital health check scanner to work, you must enable camera access for your web browser. This can usually be done in your device's app settings.

Clearing Browser Data

Safari (iOS)

To resolve the black screen issue on an iOS device, you need to clear the history and website data from Safari.

  1. Open your device's Settings.

  2. Scroll down and tap on Safari.

  3. Select Clear History and Website Data.

Google Chrome (Android)

For Android devices using Google Chrome, follow these steps to clear your browser data:

  1. Open the Chrome app.

  2. Tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner to open the menu.

  3. Go to History > Clear browsing data.

  4. Select a time range (e.g., "All time").

  5. Make sure that "Cookies and site data" and "Cached images and files" are checked.

  6. Tap Clear data.
