Linking and syncing Strove with Apple Health

To guide you through connecting Apple Health with Strove and ensuring your activities, steps, and heart rate data sync correctly for accurate tracking and rewards.

Updated over a week ago

Overview

Apple Health acts as your central wellness hub on iPhone, collecting data from your Apple Watch, iPhone sensors, and compatible third-party fitness apps. By linking Apple Health with Strove, your daily activity, workouts, and mindfulness data will sync automatically, allowing Strove to award Strove Coins based on your effort and performance.

How to link Apple Health to Strove

  1. Open the Strove app on your iPhone.

  2. Tap the Settings icon at the top-right of the home screen.

  3. Select Connected Apps.

  4. Tap Connect to Apple Health.

  5. When prompted, tap Turn On All (or toggle each data type manually to “On”).

  6. Tap Allow to confirm access.

Your accounts are now linked, and your activities will sync automatically between Apple Health and Strove.

Important Notes

  • Strove only receives activity data that appears in the Apple Health app.
Data visible only in the Fitness app will not sync to Strove.

    • For example, Apple Watch activities may show in the Fitness app but fail to appear in Apple Health if permissions are restricted.
Check Apple Health → Sources → Strove to confirm access permissions.

  • Manually added activities in Apple Health do not sync to Strove. Only tracked or automatically recorded workouts will transfer.

  • Some delay between activity completion and syncing is normal as syncing typically completes within a few minutes.

Troubleshooting heart rate syncing

If your workouts appear in Strove but heart rate data is missing or inaccurate, follow these steps:

  1. Resync the connection between Apple Watch and Apple Health:

    • Open the Watch app → Health → Data Access & Devices and confirm Apple Health access.

  2. Restart your Apple Watch to refresh background sensors.

  3. Ensure Bluetooth is turned on and active between your Apple Watch and iPhone.

  4. Verify permissions in Apple Health:

    • Go to Apple Health → Profile → Apps → Strove and confirm that all relevant data types (Workouts, Heart Rate, Steps) are toggled on.

  5. Refresh the Strove app by swiping down on the home screen to manually trigger a sync.

Reconnecting Apple Health typically resolves missing heart rate or workout data. However, older activities may not always sync retroactively, especially if heart rate permissions were inactive when recorded.

Why Heart Rate Syncing Matters

Accurate heart rate data helps Strove calculate your effort level, allowing for fairer and more precise Strove Coin rewards. It also improves performance insights within the app — rewarding intensity as well as duration.

Quick Tips for Smooth Syncing

  • Keep both Strove and Apple Health updated to the latest version.

  • Always wear your Apple Watch snugly during workouts to ensure accurate readings.

  • Avoid logging out of the Strove app — it may interrupt data sharing.

  • If you switch devices or Apple IDs, reconnect Apple Health from Settings → Connected Apps.
