Overview
Fitbit tracks a variety of health metrics, including steps, workouts, sleep, and heart rate. By connecting your Fitbit account to Strove, your activities will sync automatically, allowing Strove to calculate your effort level and reward you accordingly.
Fitbit acts as your data collector; Strove turns your effort into Strove Coins.
How to Link Fitbit to Strove
Open the Strove app.
Tap the Settings icon (top-right of the home screen).
Select Connected Apps.
Tap Connect to Fitbit.
Tap the link button and sign in with the same Fitbit account you use in the Fitbit app.
Authorise Strove to read your activity data.
Once linked, your Fitbit-tracked workouts, steps, and heart rate will begin syncing automatically with Strove.
Important Notes
Manually added activities in Fitbit will not sync to Strove as only activities recorded directly from your Fitbit device or app are supported.
You may occasionally need to open the Fitbit app to trigger background syncing from your device to your Fitbit account.
A slight delay (usually under an hour) may occur between recording and the activity appearing in Strove.
Fitbit must remain logged in on your device to maintain an active connection with Strove.
How Your Activities Sync
Strove retrieves your Fitbit data once your device uploads it to your Fitbit account.
Strove analyses your workout’s duration, heart rate, and intensity to calculate your Strove Coins.
Syncs occur automatically throughout the day when all apps are connected and permissions are enabled.
Strove can only sync data recorded within the last 7 days. Older activities may not appear.
Troubleshooting Fitbit Syncing
If your Fitbit activities or steps aren’t appearing in Strove, try these steps:
Check Permissions
Open Fitbit → Account → Settings → Third-Party Apps and confirm that Strove is listed and permissions are granted for activity, heart rate, and exercise data.
If Strove isn’t listed, disconnect and reconnect it via Strove → Settings → Connected Apps → Fitbit.
Re-establish the Connection
In Strove, toggle the Fitbit connection off and back on.
Sign in again using your Fitbit credentials and reauthorise permissions.
Open the Fitbit App
Launch the Fitbit app and ensure your most recent activity or steps have uploaded successfully from your device.
Once uploaded, reopen Strove and refresh the home screen (swipe down) to trigger sync.
Restart Sync Services
Restart your device if syncing remains delayed. This helps refresh Fitbit’s background services.
Check for App Updates
Ensure Strove and Fitbit are updated to their latest versions via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
If You’re Using Fitbit Through Health Sync
If your Fitbit data comes via Health Sync (for example, if you’re using a Huawei device):
Confirm that Health Sync is installed and configured with Fitbit as the destination and Huawei Health as the source.
Ensure both Health Sync and Fitbit have permission to write and read activity data in Health Connect.
Open Health Sync periodically to refresh the data transfer between apps.
Why Fitbit Heart Rate Data Matters
Fitbit’s heart rate tracking helps Strove calculate effort-based rewards, ensuring your Strove Coins reflect your actual workout intensity rather than estimated energy use. Without heart rate data, your rewards may be slightly lower.
Quick Tips for Smooth Syncing
Keep Bluetooth enabled so your Fitbit device can sync with the app.
Avoid force-closing the Fitbit app as it interrupts background syncing.
Ensure Fitbit, Health Connect, and Strove remain installed and active.
For best results, open your Fitbit app at least once daily to verify successful uploads.
