Understanding Teams and Leaderboards in Strove

To explain how Teams and Leaderboards work in Strove, how to find your team, and how performance is ranked within your organisation.

Overview

The Teams feature lets you compete alongside your colleagues and track progress across departments or groups within your organisation. Teams appear on the Leaderboards, where friendly competition encourages collaboration, motivation, and maybe even a bit of healthy rivalry. Teams are usually created along departmental lines, but your organisation may choose a different structure depending on its setup or wellness goals.

How to Access the Leaderboards

  1. Open the Strove app.

  2. Tap the Community tab (formerly known as Strive) from the bottom navigation bar.

  3. Select “Leaderboard this week” to view your organisation’s current standings.

  4. Use the filters at the top to switch between:

    • Teams are to see how each team is performing.

    • My Team is to see how you and your teammates rank.

    • Individuals are to see top performers across all teams.

You can also switch between weekly and monthly views to track progress over time.

How Teams Work

  • Your organisation’s Strove administrators create teams.

  • Most teams are based on departments (e.g., Marketing, Sales, HR), but some organisations choose to group participants differently.

  • Teams compete on a level playing field, regardless of size. Strove automatically adjusts metrics to ensure fairness.

Your team’s total performance reflects the combined effort of all participating members.

How to See Which Team You’re In

  1. Go to the Community tab → Leaderboard this week.

  2. Select the “My Team” filter at the top of the leaderboard.

  3. You’ll see a list of all members in your team (including yourself), ranked by the selected metric (e.g., steps, points, distance, or mindful minutes).

Why a Teammate Might Not Appear on the Leaderboard

If someone from your department isn’t showing on the leaderboard, it’s usually for one of these reasons:

  • They’ve disabled leaderboard visibility for privacy in Settings → Privacy Settings.

  • They haven’t downloaded or registered on Strove yet.

Encourage them to join in, as every active teammate helps boost your team’s standing.

How Strove Ensures Fair Competition

To keep the competition balanced between large and small teams, Strove automatically adjusts metrics such as:

  • Total points

  • Steps

  • Distance

  • Mindful minutes

These adjustments ensure that smaller teams can compete fairly with larger ones, so every team has a shot at the top spot.

Are There Prizes for Winning?

Prizes for leaderboard performance may vary depending on your organisation:

  • Organisation-managed rewards: Some companies offer internal prizes or recognition for top-performing teams. These are managed at the organisational level, not by Strove.

  • Strove-hosted events: Occasionally, Strove runs global or themed challenges where leaderboard winners may qualify for lucky draw prizes or recognition within the app.

Check your leaderboard details or announcements for updates on current prizes and competitions.
