Why do some colleagues not appear on the Leaderboard
There are a few common reasons why someone may not appear on the Team, Individual, or Challenge leaderboards:
1. Privacy Settings Are Enabled
A user can hide their leaderboard visibility in Settings → Privacy Settings. When this toggle is off:
Their name will not appear on any leaderboard.
Their challenge progress will remain private.
This setting only hides visibility; it does not affect their ability to earn Strove Coins.
2. They Haven’t Registered or Logged In Yet
Team members who haven’t downloaded Strove or completed registration won’t appear anywhere in the rankings.
3. No Activities Have Synced Yet
If someone hasn’t linked any connected apps or hasn't performed a valid workout with eligible data, Strove cannot populate leaderboard metrics.
Some connected apps (such as Strava) also don’t provide step data, meaning those users may appear lower than expected on step-based leaderboards.
Why is my Leaderboard not updating
Leaderboards don’t update instantly, and for good reason. To keep the app running smoothly and accurately, Strove refreshes leaderboard data on a scheduled basis.
Dashboard vs. Leaderboard Timing
Your Dashboard updates shortly after your activities sync.
Leaderboards and Challenges update less frequently, typically within a few hours.
In some cases, updates may take up to 24 hours from the moment your activity reaches Strove.
If your activity appears on your Dashboard and within your Activity History, it will appear in the leaderboard once the next snapshot is processed.
Reasons your activity may not count toward a Challenge or Leaderboard
1. The Activity Was Manually Logged
Manually added entries from Strava, Fitbit, Garmin, Samsung Health, Apple Health, and other platforms do not sync to Strove. Challenges and leaderboards only accept automatically recorded activities that include valid heart-rate, GPS, or distance data.
2. Your Connected App Isn’t Sending All the Necessary Data
Activities missing required metrics (e.g., no heart rate, incomplete GPS, missing timestamps) may be rejected by Strove’s scoring system.
Some examples:
Apple Health workouts show only in the Fitness app and not in the Apple Health app will not sync.
Strava profiles set to private will prevent activities from syncing to Strove.
Samsung Health or Google Fit may require permission reauthorisation in Health Connect.
3. The Activity Is Older Than 7 Days
Strove processes activities from the last seven days only. Older workouts cannot be retroactively added to challenges or leaderboards.
4. Syncing Delays From Third-Party Apps
Platforms like Garmin, Suunto, Wahoo, and Coros upload to their cloud servers before sending data to Strove.
If there’s a delay on their side, Strove won’t receive your activity until their sync completes.
5. You Switched Devices or Permissions
If you:
Logged out of Strove,
Disabled permissions,
Reinstalled a connected app, or
Changed your device,
Your connected-app permissions may need to be reactivated. Strove cannot sync data for periods when permissions were turned off.
Challenge-Specific Notes
Challenge Progress Not Updating
This usually means:
Your activity hasn’t hit Strove yet due to sync timing.
The activity didn’t meet challenge criteria (e.g., only distance-based workouts count), or
The challenge is awarding only your highest-scoring activity each day (depending on configuration).
Challenge Prizes
Challenge rewards are organisation-dependent.
Some companies offer internal prizes.
Some challenges run by Strove include lucky-draw rewards for users who achieve Gold.
Strove does not issue prizes for every challenge by default.
How to make sure your Leaderboard & Challenge data updates smoothly
Here are the most reliable ways to keep everything in sync:
Refresh Strove by pulling down on the home screen after completing activities.
Open your connected apps (Garmin, Fitbit, Strava, Samsung Health, Apple Health) at least once a day.
Confirm Strove has all required permissions:
iPhone: Apple Health → Sources → Strove
Android: Health Connect → App permissions → Strove
Avoid logging out of Strove or clearing app data.
Keep Bluetooth and mobile data turned on for your wearable.
Ensure your activity appears in the source app first. Strove can only process data once it’s visible there.
