Syncing activities on a Huawei phone

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Strove does not have a direct integration with Huawei Health yet, but we are working hard to bring Huawei Health to Strove. In the meantime, there are three workaround methods - using Google Fit (for older devices), Strava (for newer devices), or the Health Sync and Fitbit method (for HarmonyOS devices).

Strove has a variety of Connected Apps that can be used to record and sync your activities.

Older Huawei Devices

We recommend that users with Huawei phones that have Google Play services connect to Google Fit. Linking to Google Fit will integrate your phone's built-in activity tracking and allow you to leverage Google's connected apps too.

Link Strove to Google Fit:

  1. Tap on the 'Profile' tab on the bottom right of the screen in the Strove app.

  2. Tap ‘Connected Apps’

  3. Tap 'Connect to Google Fit'

  4. Tap the link button and allow strove to access your activity data.

  5. Sign in to the Google account associated with your Google Fit app.

  6. Authorise/enable Strove to read your data.

  7. Your accounts will now be linked and your activities will sync to Strove automatically.

Newer Huawei Devices (HarmonyOS)

If your Huawei device only has access to the Huawei AppGallery, we recommend linking your Huawei Health to Strava. Strava can’t be downloaded from the AppGallery, however, you can still link your Huawei account to Strava and Strava to Strove.

Alternatively, HarmonyOS users can consider linking Huawei Health to Fitbit via the Health Sync app for integration with Strove.

You will need to create a Strava account online (a paid account is not necessary). Once you have set up an account on Strava, you can link your Huawei Health to Strava.

Syncing activities from Huawei Health to Strava:

  1. Open the Huawei Health App > From the main page, select ‘Me’ at the bottom of the screen > Scroll down to and select Privacy Management

  2. Select ‘Data sharing and authorisation’

  3. Select ‘Strava’

  4. You will be asked to log in to your Strava Account to authorise the link or connection between the Huawei app and the Strava app

  5. Tap ‘Authorize’ > You will be taken back to the Huawei Health App showing that the Strava account is now linked

Syncing activities from Strava to Strove:

Once you have linked your Huawei Health to Strava, you can link your Strove app to Strava

  1. Navigate to the ‘Profile’ tab

  2. Tap ‘Connected Apps’

  3. Tap ‘Connect to Strava’

  4. And sign into the same Strava account that is linked to Huawei Health

Syncing activities from Huawei Health to Strove using Fitbit:

  1. Download and install the Health Sync app, Fitbit app (via GBox or APKpure), and Strove app.

  2. Open Health Sync and set Huawei Health as the data source.

  3. Set Fitbit as the destination for data syncing in Health Sync.

  4. Confirm permissions and authenticate connections as prompted.

  5. In the Strove app, go to ‘Profile’ > ‘Connected Apps’ and enable the Fitbit slider.

  6. Tap ‘Connect’ and sign into the same Fitbit account linked through Health Sync.

  7. Authorize Strove to access Fitbit activity data. Your activities will now sync with Strove automatically.

Tips for Ensuring a Smooth Syncing Process:

  • Keep Apps Updated: Ensure all apps are updated for compatibility.

  • Open Apps Frequently: Intermediary apps like Health Sync may require activation for syncing.

  • Restart Devices if Necessary: Reboot your device to resolve syncing issues.
