Why can’t you earn points for manual entries without heart rate or GPS data

To explain why manually entered activities without GPS or heart rate data do not earn points in Strove.

Requirements

To earn points for manually added activities, the activity must include:

  • Heart rate data

  • GPS tracking data

  • Real-time duration data (for some activities)

These are required so Strove can verify that a genuine fitness activity was completed.

How it works

When you manually upload an activity:

  • Strove checks for either GPS coordinates or heart rate data to confirm the activity is authentic.

  • If the activity includes either of these data types, it can be manually imported to Strava, and the verified activity will then sync to Strove for points.

  • If the activity lacks both heart rate and GPS data, it will not earn points because it cannot be verified as completed.

Troubleshooting summary

If your manual activity didn’t earn points:

  1. Check that it contains GPS or heart rate data.

  2. Make sure it was uploaded to Strava/Health Connect/Apple Health before syncing to Strove.

  3. Verify that Strove and the app you’re using are connected and syncing correctly.

Preventative tips

  • Always use a fitness tracker or app that records heart rate or GPS data.

  • Avoid creating manual entries without tracking data — they won’t qualify for points.

Double-check your device permissions to ensure GPS and heart rate sensors are active.
