Troubleshooting Assistance - Google Fit Not Syncing to Strove

If your steps or workouts from Google Fit are not appearing in Strove, this guide will help you identify where the issue is and how to fix it.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

How Google Fit syncing works

Google Fit must pass activity data through Health Connect before Strove can process it.

The data flow is:

Google Fit → Health Connect → Strove

If the activity is not visible in Health Connect, Strove cannot access it.

Before troubleshooting, please confirm:

  • The activity was completed within the last 7 days

  • The activity was not manually added or edited

  • Health Connect is installed on your device

  • Permissions have not been recently changed or revoked

Activities older than 7 days will not sync.

Step 1: Confirm the activity is in Google Fit

Open Google Fit and check:

  • Do your steps appear for today?

  • Does your workout appear in your Journal?

If the activity is not visible in Google Fit, it cannot sync to Strove.

If it is visible, continue to the next step.

Step 2: Check if the activity is in Health Connect

This is the most important step and will require you to do the following:

  1. Open the Health Connect app.

  2. Tap Data and access.

  3. Tap Browse data.

  4. Select:
    Steps (for step issues)
    Exercise (for workout issues)

  5. Check if your activity appears under today’s date.

If the activity appears here, it has successfully passed from Google Fit into Health Connect. If it does not appear here, the issue is between Google Fit and Health Connect.

Step 3: Check permissions in Health Connect

Still in Health Connect:

  1. Tap App permissions.

  2. Select Google Fit.

    • Make sure all relevant data types are enabled.

  3. Go back and select Strove.

    • Make sure all permissions are enabled.

After confirming permissions:

  • Open Google Fit and let it sit open briefly.

  • Then open Strove and pull down on the Dashboard to refresh.

Common syncing issues and what they mean

Possible Issue: steps showing in Google Fit but not in Strove

If you see steps appearing in Google Fit but they do not appear in Health Connect then Google Fit is not writing step data to Health Connect.

To remedy this, confirm permissions in Google Fit and restart your phone. Then re-check Health Connect. If steps appear in Health Connect but not in Strove after refreshing, contact Support.

Possible issue: workouts visible in Google Fit but not in Strove

If you see a workout appear in Google Fit, but it does not appear in Health Connect, then the issue is between Google Fit and Health Connect. Recheck permissions and reopen Google Fit.

Important syncing rules

  • Activities older than 7 days will not sync.

  • Manually added or edited activities may not sync.

  • Leaderboards may take up to 24 hours to update.

  • Health Connect must remain installed and enabled.

  • Occasionally opening Google Fit can trigger syncing.

When to contact Strove Support

Please contact Support if:

  • The activity appears in Health Connect

  • It was completed within the last 7 days

  • Permissions are enabled

  • You refreshed Strove and it still does not appear

When contacting Support, include:

  • A screenshot of the activity in Google Fit

  • A screenshot of the same activity inside Health Connect

  • A screenshot of Health Connect permissions for Strove

This helps us resolve your issue faster.

When it’s not a Strove issue

If the activity does not appear in Health Connect, Strove cannot access it.

In this case, the issue lies between Google Fit and Health Connect. Ensuring permissions are enabled and restarting your device usually resolves it.
